Get to know Karin Liset – Fram Marines latest reinforcement

As part of the growing demand for ambitious and skilled professionals, we have the pleasure to welcome Karin Liset as part of the Fram Marine team.

Henrik Paust

Karin joined Fram Marine from Aker Solutions where she held a senior advisor  position. She has filled a broad spectre of roles in early phase studies and execution projects both within oil and gas projects as well as renewable energy and future solutions. She holds a M.Sc. in Engineering from NTNU, and prior to joining Aker Solutions, she worked as pipeline installation engineer for Heerema Marine Contractors and with offshore drilling operations for Schlumberger.

Karin is an outstanding complementary to the team, as she has an admirable combination of deep industrial knowledge, strong technical profile and excellent management and project execution skills. Her drive and curious nature will be a highly valuable addition to Fram Marine in the next stage of our development, and in strengthening our technology management advisory services in the renewable energy segment, says Ane Viaene Engebretsen, CEO in Fram Marine AS.

Karin served as Aker Solutions’ Study Manager for Zero Emission Energy Distribution at Sea (ZEEDS), a consortium of companies (Wärtsilä, DFDS, Grieg Group, Equinor, Kværner, Aker Solutions) with the overarching goal to determine the fastest way to close the gap towards zero emission shipping.

"I am motivated by the ongoing energy transition which is required to meet the Norwegian and global targets for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions."

Through innovation projects like ZEEDS and projects where she has performed evaluations with regards to re-use of equipment, Karin is dedicated to improvements and optimisations. For sustainability and the challenges ahead, she elaborates further:

I am motivated by the ongoing energy transition which is required to meet the Norwegian and global targets for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The climate changes are already upon us, and my opinion is that the collective engagement we see among the public, at governmental level and in the industry is great. This engagement from all levels of the society will act as a catalyst for finding new and better solutions for our world.

What I find fascinating by Fram Marine are the broad aspects of opportunities and projects and how they have turned focus from traditional oil and gas industry into being engaging in renewable energy and technologies that will have a positive effect on the environment.

Karin continues;

Climate change is a global problem that cannot be solved locally, but I am convinced that Norway has a unique starting point for leading the way into a greener future, and we must ensure that Norwegian companies takes part in this transition. It is important that a governmental framework of rules, regulations and incentives comes in place fast, and I believe that quantitative and time-based goals are important to ensure continuity and predictability for developing technologies, such as offshore floating wind. With a good framework and targeted incentives in place, the industry can truly plan for the transition

"In Fram Marine I have found the perfect opportunity to work together with experienced people with strong technical skills. My colleagues willingly share their knowledge, which I can make use of into specific projects at the same time as I learn something new every day"

When it comes to the ocean of opportunities for new technologies we have in the North Sea and along our coastline, it is important that we preserve the already established industries there, such as fishery, shipping logistics, tourism and oil and gas. I believe that Fram Marine will contribute to the energy transition by taking part in developing new and better solutions for several of these sectors.

With a track record from our home market, where we can demonstrate technical excellence coexisting with already established industries, Norwegian companies will have a great opportunity to be recognised and competitive in the global market.

Together with the experienced team in Fram Marine, Karin is eager to deliver technology management services covering both multidiscipline and specialized technology areas.

In Fram Marine I have found the perfect opportunity to work together with experienced people with strong technical skills. My colleagues willingly share their knowledge, which I can make use of into specific projects at the same time as I learn something new every day, Karin is concluding.

Fram Marine is always looking for skilled professionals like Karin, who thrive in an innovative and professional environment. Do you want to join our team?  Please send an open application with your resume to our CEO Ane Viaene Engebretsen
